About Me

I’m not an event planner, chef, floral designer, craft bartender or caterer. I have many talented friends who are some of the best in each of these fields. What I AM is a hostess who entertains A LOT.

I entertain in my home more frequently than anyone I know. The events vary from receptions for 300 to intimate dinners for 8. I host 40-50 events a year, so I have a ton of practice and have learned a few things along the way.

Often people ask me about entertaining with a sense of bewilderment — like I have a super power that only a special few can harness. That is so far from the truth! But, I am organized, experienced and above all FEARLESS!

Being a Fearless Hostess is about taking risks, having fun and most of all keeping a sense of humor. Your energy and attitude as the host is the most important factor in whether your guests have a great time. It doesn’t matter if the roast is over-cooked or an unexpected downpour rains on your backyard BBQ. Guests will remember how you reacted and handled the situation. Grace under pressure with a hearty laugh goes a long way toward creating memories like “remember that night we got drenched and moved inside to warm by the fire and a classic rock sing-a-long while we waited for the pizza to arrive”, and not “remember that evening when it started raining so hard that dinner was ruined and everyone went home early, cranky and still starving.” A Fearless Hostess makes strong plans for an event, but has the sense of humor and flexibility to do something completely different in response to unexpected occurrences.

This blog is my space to share my thoughts, experience and suggestions on how to host a successful event and tips on how to handle the inevitable hiccups along the way.
